OMAHA, Nebraska (WOWT) – On Wednesday, an Omaha man who was shot by police after leading cops on a pursuit last October was sentenced in two instances.
Patrick Wright’s overall sentence for both instances ranged from 10 to 16 years in jail. Judge Molly Keane gave down both sentences.
In one example, the 40-year-old was convicted for making a terroristic threat, using a handgun to commit a crime, and possessing a firearm when forbidden. In the second instance, he was sentenced to two counts of narcotics possession with the intent to distribute.
Prior to the gunfight in October 2023, Omaha Police had been looking into Wright as a narcotics dealer for months. Officers said that they purchased fentanyl from Wright using a confidential source.
According to court filings, Wright brandished a pistol at a 911 caller at 21st and Pinkney streets on October 3, 2023. The incident sparked a pursuit involving many police vehicles, including unmarked cars and an Omaha Police helicopter.
Wright was found guilty following a four-day trial in October of this year.
