The Silsbee Tigers defeated the Hitchcock Bulldogs 78-65 on Saturday to start the new year. The victory gave the Tigers their second win in a row.

Payton Jones and Troy Rice led Silsbee to victory. Jones went 13 for 32 for 32 points and seven rebounds, while Rice had a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Jones’ seventh consecutive game with at least ten points. Billy Boulwen contributed 18 points and five rebounds for the team, shooting 5 of 12 from the field.
Silsbee’s victory improved their record to 10-13. Hitchcock’s loss snapped a 14-game streak of away wins dating back to last season, bringing their record to 13-8.
Both squads will have to travel for their upcoming games. The Silsbee Tigers will face the Bridge City Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Silsbee is coming in with some offensive muscle, averaging 63.2 points per game this season. Hitchcock will travel away from home to face Van Vleck at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
