Texas City is 2-8 against Santa Fe since January 2020, with a chance to close the gap on Tuesday. The Texas City Stingarees will try to defend their home court against the Santa Fe Indians at 4:30 p.m.
Texas City enters Tuesday’s game hoping for a significant change in momentum after losing their sixth consecutive game on Friday. They had to endure a 76-31 loss at the hands of Ball.
While losing is never fun, the Stingarees can’t take it too hard given their significant disadvantage in MaxPreps’ Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1291st, while the Tornadoes are ranked 432nd).
Meanwhile, there’s no place like home for Santa Fe, which rebounded from a road loss two weeks ago. The squad narrowly defeated Friendswood 41-39. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Indians, putting an end to their three-game losing streak.
Santa Fe’s victory was their first in the district, improving their record to 1-3 and overall to 6-11. Texas City’s loss dropped their record to 4-15.
Santa Fe defeated Texas City 65-26 in their previous meeting in January 2024. Santa Fe’s Hannah Doerre’s dominant performance, with 26 points and 15 rebounds, played a significant role in the team’s loss.
Will Texas City be able to stop her this time, now that they know how much damage she can cause?
