In a shocking case of domestic violence, Robert Marin, a 60-year-old man from Phoenix, Arizona, is accused of murdering his estranged wife, Heather Marin, in front of their teenage daughter. The details of the crime, including the chilling actions of the suspect afterward, have left the community in disbelief.
The Disturbing Crime Scene
Around 9:30 p.m. on Monday night, the victim, Heather Marin, was shot multiple times by her estranged husband, Robert Marin, in their Phoenix home. According to police, the couple had been in a heated argument earlier that evening, which escalated into the tragic murder.
Their teenage daughter reportedly overheard the gunshots and rushed to the garage, where she found her mother lying on the ground, bleeding, and heard her father’s response to the situation.
Daughter’s Terrifying Discovery
The daughter, horrified by the scene, confronted her father, who reportedly shrugged his shoulders and walked away. Robert Marin then allegedly returned to the garage, where he smoked a celebratory cigar while standing over his wife’s body.
His indifference and lack of remorse were evident, according to the affidavit. Meanwhile, the daughter attempted to perform CPR and called 911.
History of Domestic Violence and Threats
This shocking incident may not have been an isolated one. According to the daughter, there had been a prior unreported domestic violence incident in February 2026.
Robert Marin allegedly threatened his wife’s life during a heated argument, holding a firearm to her head and threatening to kill her and then himself.
Additionally, the daughter revealed that she had received screenshots of text exchanges between her parents that included hateful and threatening language, further shedding light on the dysfunctional and dangerous nature of their relationship.
The Arrest and Charges
When police arrived at the scene, they found Robert Marin covered in blood and in possession of a firearm. He was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
A prior history of firearms possession, including unsecured guns in the home, was also revealed during the investigation. The suspect is currently being held in the Maricopa County Jail on a $2 million cash bond.
The Impact of Domestic Violence
This tragedy highlights the deadly consequences of domestic violence, particularly when it is fueled by anger and a lack of intervention. The presence of firearms in households with abusive dynamics can significantly increase the likelihood of fatal outcomes, as seen in this case.
