The Council Bluffs PRCA Rodeo this weekend brought a lot of excitement with events like bull riding, mutton bustin’, and barrel racing. Teen sisters Kate and Tera Flitton, professional trick riders from Utah, shared their amazing experiences with KMTV.

Kate and Tera Flitton: Professional Trick Riders

Kate, 19, and her 14-year-old sister Tera are talented rodeo performers who are passionate about their craft. Kate started her trick riding journey at the young age of seven when she trained in Texas.

“When I was seven years old, I went to Texas for a week and I was able to be trained on trick riding,” said Kate.

Tera, on the other hand, grew up in a rodeo family and learned by observing her older sister. “But I was not professionally trained by anybody ever, I just kind of started on my own,” said Tera.

Rodeo Legends Honored at the Event

The Council Bluffs PRCA Rodeo is known for bringing together rodeo riders from across the country, but it also has a strong focus on local heroes. On Friday night, the crowd celebrated Southwest Iowa’s rodeo legend Bill Busch on his 77th birthday.

Bill Busch had competed at the National Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City 50 years ago, proudly representing Iowa.

Bill was surrounded by his family, including his son Joe, who competed in steer wrestling that night. The crowd even sang Happy Birthday to him.

What to Expect Next Year

While this year’s rodeo is over, the Council Bluffs PRCA Rodeo will return to the MAC next year, continuing to bring together rodeo fans, local legends, and talented performers from across the country.
