A fatal accident occurred Saturday morning in McPherson County, Kansas, at 7:45 a.m. when a 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by 69-year-old Mickey W. Mitani from Bellevue, Nebraska, failed to navigate a turn and crashed.

Accident Details

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Mitani was driving eastbound on K61 Highway, two miles south of U.S. 56. As he attempted to make a left-hand turn onto the northbound Interstate 135 ramp, he lost control of the vehicle.

The SUV went off the road, became airborne, struck the ground, and then rolled onto its top.

Fatalities and Safety Measures

Mitani was pronounced dead at the scene. The Kansas Highway Patrol confirmed that he was wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident.
