OMAHA, Neb. — On Monday, 15-year-old Joseph Keyes was sentenced to 35-70 years in prison for his involvement in the shooting death of Mursal Jama, 64, on August 13, 2024.

Keyes was convicted on two counts of robbery and two counts of use of a deadly weapon after pleading no contest to the charges.

Sentencing of Other Defendants

Keyes is the last of the six suspects charged in connection with Jama’s death to be sentenced. Other individuals involved in the crime received similar sentences.

Trenton Titsworth-Hunt, Talan Wilson, and Deasean Titsworth-Hunt were each sentenced to 50-70 years for robbery and use of a deadly weapon.

Juvenile Defendants

One juvenile, who was 13 at the time of the shooting, was placed on comprehensive supervision probation. Another defendant, a 11-year-old at the time, had their charges dropped after being deemed not competent to stand trial.
