A severe blizzard warning has led to the closure of a portion of Interstate-80 in Iowa. The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) announced that the section of I-80 between Council Bluffs and Des Moines is now officially closed due to hazardous weather conditions.
Additionally, Stuart Police Department has alerted the public that both on and off ramps into Stuart from the interstate are being used to halt traffic.
Impassable Roads and Dangerous Conditions
The DOT further warned that all state roads in Greene, Guthrie, and Dallas counties are currently impassable. Reports have surfaced of white-out conditions across these areas, making travel extremely dangerous. Local law enforcement is urging drivers to stay home and avoid traveling on the roads.
Blizzard Warning in Effect
The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning for the affected areas, which will remain in effect until 7:00 AM tomorrow. Temperatures are expected to plummet overnight, with some areas potentially experiencing lows as severe as 30 degrees below zero.

Authorities are strongly advising people to avoid unnecessary travel and to stay indoors until conditions improve. With blizzard conditions expected to persist, travelers are urged to follow local updates and be prepared for dangerous, freezing temperatures overnight.
