Omaha cops announce a motorcade for a Nebraska soldier killed in the war against Iran

The Omaha Police Department has revealed the motorcade route for Master Sgt. Noah Tietjens, who will be escorted home following his tragic death during an Iranian drone attack in Kuwait on March 1, 2026.

The motorcade will travel from Eppley Airfield to Forest Lawn Cemetery on Saturday, where Tietjens will be laid to rest.

Honoring Master Sgt. Noah Tietjens

Tietjens was one of six U.S. military members killed in the drone attack. In honor of his service and sacrifice, he was posthumously promoted from sergeant 1st class to master sergeant. The community is rallying around his family as they prepare for his return.

Support from U.S. Representative Don Bacon

U.S. 2nd District Rep. Don Bacon, a fellow Bellevue resident, expressed his support for Tietjens’ family. “Our heart still goes out with all those family members,” Bacon said.

“This great soldier came out of Bellevue, and his family lives amongst us. Our hearts are with them.” Bacon has also offered to support the family at the airport if they wish.

Motorcade Route Details

The motorcade route is closed to the public at the airport, but people are encouraged to show their support along the designated route while adhering to parking regulations and traffic laws. The motorcade will begin at Lindberg Drive and Storz Expressway heading north.

It will then proceed from Storz Expressway to Sorenson Parkway, and finally, from Sorenson Parkway to North 56th Street, traveling north until it reaches Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Public Visitation and Private Funeral

A public visitation will take place on March 27, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home. The funeral service and burial will be private, with close family and loved ones in attendance.
